Data exports & reporting
Automated extracts from Pick into the formats your team actually uses. CSV, Excel, PDF, JSON, XML — generated on a schedule or on demand, delivered to a shared drive, an SFTP site, an email inbox, or a web dashboard. Sales summaries, inventory snapshots, AR aging, production reports, customer lists — whatever the business needs to see outside of Pick, we build the pipeline.
Excel integration
Excel is the universal language of business reporting. We build automated exports from Pick directly into formatted .xlsx workbooks — multiple sheets, formulas, headers, column formatting, charts. Not raw CSV dumps that someone has to reformat every time. Finished workbooks that are ready to open, review, and forward.
Import works the other direction too. When vendors send pricing updates, customers submit order files, or finance provides budget data in Excel, we parse the spreadsheet and load it into Pick — validated, mapped to the right files, with error handling for the rows that don't match.
Shared drives & network file delivery
Sometimes the simplest integration is a file on a mapped drive. We build automated processes that write Pick exports directly to Windows shared directories, NAS volumes, or network file servers. Nightly inventory files for the warehouse. Daily sales summaries for the front office. Weekly AP reports for accounting. The files show up where people expect them, formatted and ready, without anyone logging into Pick.
Same pattern for inbound data: Pick watches a directory for incoming files — vendor catalogs, EDI transactions, customer uploads — processes them automatically, and moves them to an archive folder when done.
FTP & SFTP transfers
Automated file exchange with vendors, customers, banks, and trading partners. We build scheduled FTP and SFTP jobs that push exports out and pull imports in — with logging, error handling, and retry logic. Bank lockbox files, EDI transmissions, vendor catalog updates, customer order feeds — whatever moves by file transfer, we automate it.
SQL database migration
Moving Pick data into PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or SQLite for reporting, analytics, or as part of a platform migration. The challenge isn't the SQL — it's mapping Pick's multivalued data model to relational tables without losing the relationships. Associated multivalued fields, controlling/dependent attributes, embedded delimiters, dictionary-defined virtual fields — all need careful handling.
We build migration scripts that handle the structure translation, run parallel validation between Pick and SQL to catch discrepancies, and support incremental sync for phased migrations where both systems run simultaneously.
Platform-to-platform migration
Moving from one Pick platform to another — D3 to jBASE, mvBASE to UniVerse, UniData to jBASE. The data model is similar across platforms but the details differ: dictionary formats, file system conventions, BASIC syntax variations, system-level utilities. We handle the data migration, the code conversion, and the parallel-run period where both systems need to produce the same results.
Data normalization & cleanup
Decades of data entry means inconsistent formats, duplicate records, orphaned references, and fields that meant one thing in 2005 and something different today. We build cleanup processes: address standardization, duplicate detection and merge, field format normalization, referential integrity checks. Clean data before it migrates is always cheaper than cleaning it after.
PDF generation
Invoices, packing slips, purchase orders, quotes, reports — generated as properly formatted PDFs directly from Pick data. HTML-to-PDF rendering gives you full control over layout, branding, and formatting. The PDFs can be emailed, saved to a shared drive, or served through a web portal. No more printing and scanning.
